One of my all-time favorite recordings of Bird's playing! This transcription is from the 1947 live record Diz n Bird at Carnegie Hall. Parker's diversity in this solo is amazing, and was one of the first times I heard him use altissimo.
This highly detailed transcription was done over several days using Transcribe! software. By slowing down the recording, it is possible to determine what types of articulations are being used. I have tried to represent Charlie Parker's unique bebop articulation techniques to the best of my ability. I believe that this visual representation of advanced bebop articulation techniques will help students of jazz saxophone reach higher levels of expression in less time. Have fun with this thing!
