Jake Dester's Awesomely Detailed Solo Transcriptions
I pride myself on the detail and legibility I put into my solo transcriptions. It's especially important to me that they include articulations. I've developed a process using Transcribe! software to closely examine recordings and notate the solos in Finale as accurately as I can.
When I was learning to play, I always struggled with articulation. It was not until I was years into my career before I realized how unaware I was about ghost notes and authentic bebop articulation style. It took me a lot of work to re-learn to articulate the saxophone in a style that is true to the legacy of the jazz greats.
It's my hope that by offering these detailed transcriptions here, I can save beginning and intermediate jazz students the frustration I experienced trying to learn solo transcriptions that did not have any articulations.
